Description

Retinopathy of prematurity is a disease caused by abnormal vessel regression of the retinal vasculature that affects premature infants with low birth weights. The authors of this book explore the possibility of applying the concept of fractal analysis to images of retinal blood vessels for morphometric analysis and classification; the quality of life for children with retinopathy of prematurity; the differences in ethnicity and socioeconomic status that influence the prevalence, risks, outcome and management of ROP; the outcome and prognostic factors of the intravitreal administration of bevacizumab for ROP; the outcomes of transpupillary diode laser photocoagulation for ROP; new therapeutic strategies for treating ROP and late complications that can develop and persistent into later childhood and even adult life (for example, long-term refractive errors, amblyopia, strabismus and optic nerve abnormalities).

⭐There’s a reason many residents use Friedman’s to review for the OKAP and WQE, it’s a good review book with a surprising amount of detail for its size. Some of the previous typos that made Friedman’s unreliable have been fixed in this edition, though not all. After annotating my own notes this will be my primary written resource for the WQE.

⭐Better than Chern. The pictures, fonts, and organization are overall better. I also feel that there is more detail instead of empty bullets that leave you wondering why that fact is in there. I wish the Index was more comprehensive so you can look up topics more precisely. Even topics they ask in questions are not listed in the Index and you have to go hunting. Very frustrating.WARNING: There are some fairly significant errors in the book. I would fact-check with ophthoquestions which is more “peer reviewed” and many users state in the comments where they see errors. So even though this is comprehensive, it’s not the end-all be-all.

⭐You can enter int the sistem with the online key and read the interesting articles , and consult youre book with ease of access and a very understandable language.

⭐Excellent review book. Contains just about everything you need to know for the OKAPs. Like the bullet format to keep things precise:

⭐Great summary of almost everything you need to know to pass the EBO exams but contains quite a number of errors (typos and wrong numbering). Every chapter also has some questions at the end but in preparation for the MC part of the exams I would strongly recommend using a question book as well. I used the review questions in ophthalmology by Chern and Saidel and that seemed to be a very good addition to this book to me.

⭐I took the Bay Area Ophthalmology Course and this was the book that most ophtho residents were using. It has a good lay out, good pics and enough information.

⭐Comprehensive review, perfect for OKAPS/broad review for the ophthalmologist. Will be too in depth for the medical student.

⭐I loved the book, it was in an excellent condition, actually i heard about it from my freinds in field

⭐No way to find a similar resource to completely cover all aspects of ophthalmology asked about in Ophthalmology Board Exams! Highly recommended!

⭐Great for residents (boards/OKAPs). Much easier than trying to read all 12,000 pages of BCSC, and better at grouping diseases. Would really benefit from an errata log as there are certainly mistakes.

⭐Poor paper quality

⭐Very good to prepare for exams and practice
